Kawkab is an outstanding professional highly committed to her work and in promoting women’s rights in Yemen and beyond. I had the true honor of working with her in several high level events and I have been highly impressed by her dedication, professionalism, knowledge and skills as well as her outstanding ability to deliver results. It’s been an absolute pleasure working with and getting to know Kawkab. She is unique when it comes to her vision, motivation and work ethic. Kawkab is not only a friend, but also someone of inspiration for me which I expect is the same for many other young women in this sector. She has a unique perspective and warmness which allows people to instantly connect with her thanks to her incredible energy and sincere passion for the region. We worked together for two years (2020-2021) in many different programs, she amazed us by her accuracy in work, high flexibility in managing and working with partnerships and coalitions, her strong faith in human rights, and high care of women and their different roles during and after the conflict.

While working, al-Thaibani put the Association at the forefront of choices made in training and partnership regarding gender and advocacy campaigns. She participated to make our case present in several meetings related to the Yemeni issue, believing unconditionally in the right of the complete freedom of civilians who are abducted and detained by all warring parties.

Kawkab is wonderful to work with. She is both a natural leader and a great team builder. But most importantly, she is someone who works with a vision. A vision for women's rights, sustainable development of war-rocked countries, justice for all. She always goes the extra mile to make a difference in people's lives. I have huge admiration for her stamina.

I was recommended to Kawkab by staff at Human Rights Watch, who knew Kawkab's history of activism on a range of rights issues, including her impressive track record working to advance women's rights in Yemen. Kawkab repeatedly offered her expertise, her time, and her advice. Since that time, Kawkab has continued to advocate for women's inclusion in the peace process in Yemen, for accountability for conflict-related violations, and for rights-oriented change in Yemen. She co-founded a network run by Yemeni women and for Yemeni women, has written articles advocating that women be meaningfully included in peace and political processes, and pushed for credible investigations into rights abuses by Yemen's warring parties, including advocating for the renewal of the mandate of the UNGEE. Kawkab is friendly, open, thoughtful, and clearly committed to her work. I look forward to seeing what she does next.
